Newly released surveillance footage has revealed details of an alleged case of police brutality that occurred in Atlantic City this past summer. The incident involved a 20-year-old man who was beaten by three officers before being mauled by one of their dogs. Horrific cases like these should always be followed by the victim seeking legal representation in order to file a personal injury lawsuit and receive the damages they may be owed for their suffering.
NBC 10 Philadelphia, a local news affiliate, got their hands on the video, which shows a 20-year-old being kicked out of an Atlantic City casino on June 5 for being underage. According to the footage, the young man exchanges words with the three officers before the trio push him to the ground and begin assaulting him. A K-9 officer soon appears on the scene and immediately unleashes his dog on the 20-year-old, leaving serious wounds to the back of the man’s neck and head.
“With hands behind his back, the K-9 truck pulls up and without any assessment of the situation, the K-9 officer releases the dog on my son’s neck,” the man’s father told the source. “[The doctors] don’t anticipate that [the damage] will go away because that was from the lacerations and the doctors explained that some of the nerves got severed on the scalp.”
The boy’s family intends to sue the lead officer involved for excessive force. As NBC 10 reports, this wouldn’t be the first time, as the officer in question has been investigated for alleged misconduct on 15 separate occasions between 2008 and 2010.
